I still remember the first day I met Melissa. I can still see her beautiful fingernails and hear her contagious laugh.
Six years later, Melissa and I have shared some home-cooked meals and many Taco Bell lunches. Although I still love her fingernails and laugh, I’ve grown to admire her as a Christian and a mother. I’ve told her this before, but the more I’ve gotten to know her, the more like her I want to be. Not only does she teach her children how to obey God, she also teaches them how to hear His voice and understand His love.
At a time in my own life when I felt over-whelmed with ‘stuff’ that was keeping me too busy, she shared her views on being a mother of young children. She talked about all of the hobbies and things she really enjoys doing. Then, with only peace in her voice, she told me how she had decided there would be plenty of time for her to enjoy those things in a few short years. She knew her boys would only be ‘little’ for a short time. She made a decision to put some of her interests aside and enjoy her children while they were still young.
Sunday was a very special day for Melissa and her family. Zachary, her oldest son, was baptized in Lake Lanier by his dad. It was a beautiful moment. I couldn’t have been happier to be a part of it!
Tears are in my eyes and there is a smile on my face. Just to see again, in these beautiful pictures, what God has done and is doing to bring us to him! I can never thank you enough!
Christy, you did an amazing job capturing this very special moment. We will cherish these pictures forever. Thank you so much.
Now that my eyes are free from tears of amazing joy, I can relate to you my heart felt rejoice. My nephew… Zachery Owen Hames now has his precious name in the book of everlasting life. Words can’t begin to deliver the warmth I feel in my soul for my beautiful sister and wonderful brother-in-law. Their hearts received the most valuable gift a parent will ever encounter. As there is nothing to top such a brilliant event in their lives, until William Ryan Hames invites Christ into his life as well. What a triumph to encounter the eternal love and guidance at his tender young age. My spirit was lifted to a higher realm to see him being baptised by his father. Thunder looked as if he could float and rejoice in the presence of God himself. I am blessed by the favor the good Lord bestowed upon me to grant me such an amazing sister. Her love is endless and I am so proud of her happiness with her family. Congratulations to my sweet Zachary! Happy moments make our struggles seem so small…. I love you Thunder, Melissa, Zachary, and Will poo!
What wonderful and precious moments to capture! These are amazing memories that will last forever in your mind and hearts. I am so proud of Melissa and Thunder for raising their children up in the Lord. For to know Him is the most important thing a parent will ever instill in a child……
This may well be the sweetest moment you’ve ever captured. Births are incredible… but RE births… so tender and precious! What a blessing to get to be a part of that day! 🙂 Wonderful job!!!
[…] My friend, Melissa, is really special. She doesn’t take herself too seriously. She focuses on what’s important. She giving, loving and smart. But, most importantly, when I grumble or start to question something, instead of simply agreeing, she’ll say, “Well, let’s see what the BIBLE says about it.” So, naturally, Melissa’s son is also pretty wonderful. As a high school senior, Zachary, already has many, many accomplishments. But, being like Melissa, he is very humble and wouldn’t even want me to rave about him. So, for now, I’ll just post a few of Zachary’s SENIOR photos! […]
