“A Gentle and Quiet Spirit”

“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment,

such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.

Rather, it should be that of your inner self,

the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit,

which is of great worth in God’s sight.”

-1 Peter 3:3-4

There’s a beautiful story about Rayna’s heart.

It’s a story that started with a routine, prenatal ultrasound that, in a matter of seconds, revealed a problem in her little, unborn heart.  Between weeks of additional appointments and waiting to see a heart specialist, our family prayed and prayed that God would heal Rayna’s heart.

Not only was Rayna’s heart healed, we truly feel like God blessed her with an extra special one!

Nine years later, I continue to pray for Rayna’s heart.

I pray her heart will stay pure.
I pray her heart will hear God’s voice when He speaks to her.
I pray she learns to fight the urge to look to the world for approval, recognition and acceptance.

On a side note, the mom of Rayna’s close friend, also a friend of mine, asked me if we could start praying for the other person’s daughter.  It’s been a really neat practice that has caused me to be more intentional with who and what I pray for.  I’m so thankful she considered me!

Is there anyone YOU could challenge in YOUR life?!?!
